Is there something in your life right now that you want so bad...you can almost taste it?
You've done the work, taken the baby steps, and you're ready...
And then a road block appears.

And another.
You're dumfounded.
What happened?
Why now?
It just doesn't make sense.
Then you pick yourself up and brush yourself off. You do whatever it takes to regroup. And you put your car back into drive.
It doesn't work. Another road block appears and the resistance feels even greater.
Now you don't know what to think or how to feel. You review your checklist, make sure you haven't missed a step. You try a good night's sleep, a good yoga session, a hike out in nature and still....no solution arrises.
Now comes the negative self talk: Maybe I don't deserve this, maybe it was just luck that I got as far as I did, maybe my life is meant to stay exactly as it is.
You find yourself bouncing around the 5 stages of grief like a pinball machine.
What the Actual F***?
Why is this happening?
What if you are currently at the 3rd step of the seed in this picture...turning into the plant it is about to become?

I once heard the example of manifesting our goals/dreams in an image like this one.
Who knows how often in our lives we are only "a thin layer of dirt" from breaking through to the surface with our goals...when we get stuck by that last bit of pressure and resistance and then we just give up?
Think of it this way, without that last bit of resistance, that plant would not have built that last bit of strength it needed to stand tall towards the sunlight or grow those roots a bit deeper into the soil, to not only gain nourishment, but to root deep and strong into it's surroundings.
So, why in life, do these strong moments of resistance often pop up - just as we are nearing our goals?
I believe that this great resistance pops up, right before we reach our goals - for 2 main reasons:
1) Clarification & Certainty
2) Surrender, Gratitude & Momentum
1) Clarification & Certainty - Do you REALLY want the goal? Do you really want it for you or someone else? Have you clearly defined what you want by listening to your heart, intuition, and spirit, or your ego and outside sources? Do you want it for authentic reasons? Is the goal based out of fear or love?
This is the time to make sure you answer all of these questions and more. This is your opportunity to make sure that deep-end that you are about to swan-dive into - isn't only 3ft deep. Have you TRULY thought about what your life looks like long-term, if you reach this goal? Are you ready for the positive and negative consequences?
This may be a great time to do a meditation to get centered and then free-write every question that pops into your head. Then sit and answer them thoughtfully.
2) Surrender, Gratitude, & Momentum - Is it time to surrender? Have you had a strangle-hold on this goal for so long - that you have "checked out" to other things in your life? Have you turned into a micro-managing crazy person and the pursuit of this goal has run down your health so much - that you won't even have the energy to celebrate it when you achieve it?
Have you considered that maybe your goal is close to what you want/need, but maybe the universe has a better version or timeline planned for you? Maybe it is just time to breathe deep and take the time and space to be grateful for how far you have already come?
Think of it this way...Life is never about one race. It is like you are at a track meet and you've got a sprint in the morning that you know you can win by a long shot, but you also have to consider keeping enough energy to be able to recover and also contribute to your relay team and a pesky 800m dash in the afternoon. For my non-sports peeps out there: you can't spend 3 hours working on your sales report every evening, if that is the only time you get to see your children and husband everyday. Life is all about balance. We can sure take moments to get all excited about a goal and throw our heart and soul into it - but at some point - it is going to steal from other areas in your life. Those areas (that often take the hit) include self-care, important relationships, and your overall peace and well-being.
When you earn a goal (& plan to maintain it) - a period of restructuring will have to occur.
This is where the word "Momentum" comes in.
If you reach your goal - but have no energy left to truly celebrate it, or no energy left to restructure your life to maintain it...is it worth it? You may just need a period of regrouping before you finally break through that last layer of beautiful dirt to that bright sunshine, so that you not only have the new and revisited level of Clarity & Certainty on what you actually want - from a centered place of love and Gratitude; but now re-charge your energy and Momentum towards what is ahead - after you achieve your goal. AND Surrender to the possibility that maybe, just maybe...the universe has an even better plan for you!
Reaching a goal is feat of hard work and dedication; but also an honor and a gift. It is important to note - that as in most other things in life - it isn't just about the destination...but also about the beautiful journey.❤️
May you have the space to reflect on some of these concepts, the next time resistance rears its ugly head, right before you get to your goal in sight...
...And may you be grateful for the journey. Thanks for Growing w/Me. @GrowingSage
