Do you have a big goal that you have been working on?
Did you come out of the gates hot...but now you have fizzled?
Do you feel stuck and a little defeated?
Maybe, just maybe, you are the one blocking your goal from happening🤔😳
What the heck!?! Why would I do that?...you may ask.
That's a good question. Let's start there.
Reasons You May Be Blocking Your Own Goal:
Lack of Consistency - Consistency is a tough one. You can be super motivated and ready move towards achieving your goals - and even put a couple good weeks together...and then life happens. You come down with a cold, your job gets super stressful, or your family is particularly high maintenance right now. The 2 toughest parts of consistency are when you 1) Bite off more than you can chew initially, and 2) When you go off the rails for a bit...and then have to climb back on and start again. The absolute key with consistency is to have grace with yourself when you get off track and then hustle and get back on track - before too much times passes.
Not Enough Preparation - Maybe you have an excellent goal, but after you get 2 weeks in, you realize you might not have all of the help, information, or resources you need. Maybe you should hire a trainer, a nutritionist, a financial planner, or a life coach. Remember - you are your most important asset. Be willing to cough up a few bucks to invest in yourself and your future...as it will pay dividends down the road. All of those wonderful professionals are out there to help you - for a reason! I know many of us grew up feeling guilty spending time, money, and resources on ourselves. Let me be clear - those times are OVER! Stop pouring from an empty cup. Stop now! Putting your goals, your health, your quality of life, and your sanity first is not selfish...it is mandatory!
Maybe You Don't Want the Goal as Much as You Thought - Okay, so you keep looking at the photos of your favorite fitness blogger and you are just dying to have those abs - once in life. That's awesome! Get them! But also realize, that means you need to choose an absolutely clean diet of foods from the earth. That means no processed foods, you'll need hours of meal prep, a couple of hours at the gym/day, and no sugar or cocktails. If that all sounds perfectly fine to you - then this goal IS meant for you. If not, you may need to bring a little reality back into your perspective and your goals.
Maybe There is a Better Plan/Goal for You - So - maybe 6 pack abs isn't as realistic as you thought and it's time to go back to the drawing board. So - how about increasing your health as a goal? More fruits and veggies, less processed garbage, 5 days of working out per week, and decreasing your body fat by 2%? Just think about how much better you would look and feel! And - if you don't feel like you know what the best plan/goal is - that will be realistic - yet achievable - hire someone!
Timing - Timing has a lot to do with achieving our goals and sometimes the time we pick for ourselves...isn't the timing that the universe had planned for us. Maybe you have put 2 great weeks into decluttering your house and your mother-in-law gets injured and needs to stay with you. Just because you may need to slow down the process of your goal, or reschedule it completely - doesn't mean it you can't still achieve it. You might just need to have a little more ease and grace with your schedule. Life is full of curve balls - but as long as we give ourself a little grace and still keep our eye on the prize - the timing will work out exactly when it is supposed to.
The first step in clearing your "blockage" - is to identify its source. It may be one of the 5 above, a variation, a combination of more than one, or something else entirely. Until you are able to find some quiet reflection time to sit and think (or journal) about it - you may stay...
Stuck.
So, what do you do after you have properly identified the issue???
Decide if you are ready to get unstuck!
I know this may sound a bit silly...but...Do you? Really? Really want to get unstuck?
Getting stuck or failing a goal isn't necessarily a bad thing.
You heard me....Failure isn't a bad thing!
I wish someone would've taught me that YEARS ago! Failure is really the opportunity to start again - with a better plan, and better execution of that plan. Failure is a way to learn more about yourself...and what you REALLY want!
Okay...so now you have recommitted - with a better plan...with more ease and grace for yourself. How do you clear the block and rock your goal this time?
3 Tips to Clear the Block & Rock Your Goals:
Make a Better Plan...and a Plan A, B, & C - Just in Case: What should a good plan include? It should include specific steps that are measurable and realistic. It should include plenty of resources/information that will help you (this is where hiring a specialist or a life coach would be applicable). It should also include a good support system. Warning: the best support system might not be your family and friends. Remember - they may have their own agenda for you. You may be better off with a support system you met at the gym or online. After you acquire steps, resources, and a good support system...make a plan B and C, just in case.
Law of Attraction - Ask, Believe, Receive: Alright, now it is time to get your energy moving in the correct direction! First you need to continue to "Ask" for what you are working for each day. Maybe you repeat your intention in your car on the way to work. Then, it is time to "Believe." This is where "I am" statements are beneficial. "I am healthy." "I am happy eating foods from the earth." "I am 19% body fat." These statements will transform your mind and your energy by feeling the energy. Finally, "Receive." This is where it is beneficial to exude piles of gratitude. Be grateful for what you are working towards - as if it were already here. And while you are at it, be grateful for what you already have - it got you here.
Baby Steps & Surrender: I can't tell you how important baby steps are! I have been coaching, mentoring, and training people towards their goals for over 20 years - and one of the best pieces of advice is TAKE BABY STEPS! Sure, maybe you have absolutely hit your breaking point with the 80 extra pounds you have been carrying around for the last decade. Good! That is step 1. Now, don't think that 80 pounds will be gone by the end of the month - or you will feel defeated when that doesn't happen and never want to set another goal again. Again, this is where hiring an expert in the field would be helpful. If it took you 3 years to gain the 80 pounds and you sat in the 80 pounds for 10 years, then you can probably handle a goal of losing 5 pounds a month for 16 months to get it off and more importantly...keep it off. Baby steps are crucial to MAINTAIN long term goals. Once you start taking your baby steps - then surrender. Surrender to the plan, the good energy, and the process through those steps. You deserve to reach all of the goals you passionately want to attain - and may you achieve them through surrender and grace, instead of through a choke-hold force. The process should be equally as rewarding as the end result.
I wish you the very best on clearing all blocks that you currently have in the path towards your goals/dreams. You deserve a wonderful life! And if you decide you need a life coach (who specializes in growth) - reach out...I've got your back! Best wishes to you on your journey.❤️
