Are you ready for a good "level up" in life?
Have you been daydreaming about a new version of yourself for awhile now - but you just couldn't put the right wheels into motion to get a jump start?

Maybe it's time to learn how to create better momentum.🤔
There are several key components to achieving a desired goal - including: A good plan, good timing, education, resources, and a good support system.
Let's be clear - we can all reach our goals and we deserve to have a wonderful life - but learning how to be good at achieving goals is a learned skill that takes a lot of practice. And new goals may have new/unseen hurdles that you haven't had to practice before. It is important to remember through the process of your goal that the journey is just as important as the destination (if not more important - in some situations).
It all comes down to growth.❤️
Learning how to take risks in order to better ourselves (& hopefully others - along the way) is a feeling that should be celebrated and cherished.
Growth, love, and giving back (service) are my guiding forces. These 3 things help put you on a path to manifesting a joy-filled life. They are a safe home base - anytime you need them. It helps to keep things simple - when life gets complicated.
Before you start using tips to build some momentum - you may want to go through this checklist to see if the goal you have - is the right one for you:
Designing a Good Goal - Checklist for Success:
Is this something you truly want for yourself? Or are you trying to do it to make someone else happy?
Does your goal follow the "SMART Goal" format? (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely) - Writing goals in this format - makes the likelihood of success much higher.
Do you have enough knowledge in the area of your goal? (If not - you may need to hire someone).
Do you have access to what you need (supplies) in order to reach your goal?
Do you have ideas on how to work the steps/process of your goal into your daily schedule?
Do you currently have (or will you be able to find) a good support system?
Okay...if you answered "No" to any of the above 6 on the checklist - that's fine - as you can fix all of them with the momentum tips below - with the exception of #1. If you are not doing this goal for you - then it is time to go back to the drawing board. You'll need to communicate with the person on why this goal doesn't mean as much to you as it does them and see how that conversation goes. Reminder - communicating is key in these situations!
So...you have survived the checklist...now let's get to the GOOD Stuff!...building momentum!
6 Tips for Building Momentum Towards Your Goal:
Timing: As 'they' say, "Timing is Everything." I've got to be honest - the tip from this list that has sunk the most goals for me is most definitely timing. For example - your heart can tell you that you really want to lose those stubborn 15 pounds to increase your health and feel and look like you want to each day. You really feel ready, motivated, and have your plan lined up and then one of your family members becomes really needy or the sh** hits the fan at work - and the first thing that falls off the list is your focus on your health. So - how do we fix this timing issue? My first suggestion is to work on believing that the universe has a plan for you - better than you know. This gives a sense of peace when the timing doesn't work out - instead of beating yourself up about it - which makes it easier to attack that goal again soon - instead of making you feel as though you have a character flaw. My second suggestion is that bumps in the road in your timing are often only tests - tests of clarity. The universe is giving you a chance to make sure that this is REALLY what you want and asking you what you are willing to clear out of the way to get it. It can be truly empowering if you view it this way.
Research: So - you are super excited about a new product you want to sell and you want to hit the ground running! Have you researched which platforms are the latest and greatest for moving product? Have you done research on what might be the best niche for what you want to sell? Have you watched any YouTube videos on ways to market your brand BEFORE your big launch? Doing the work and building a strong foundation before you leap is very important.
Supplies: You realize that your headaches, fatigue, and weight gain are stemming from your new office job under the fluorescent lights all-day. You feel like some sort of science experiment. You decide that your new goal is to walk for at least 45min each night after dinner - the problem is that you haven't really worked out for a hot minute. Have you gone and gotten fitted for some quality shoes for your new walks? Do you have the right clothes for layering for the various weather you'll encounter? Do you have some reflective gear - incase your walk gets started a little later than expected? Even though I just named off several things to purchase in this example - doesn't mean that going to a second hand store or borrowing items isn't a great idea too. This would help you find out what you really want to spend your money on...and if walking is even the right options for you. People love to share or loan supplies - if they hear your working on a new goal!
Plan: I have seen great successful goals happen - with little to no plan - and more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants style approach and I admire people who are good at just jumping in. But usually, it is important to design a plan - even if it only has a few loose steps that give you plenty of options to be flexible. This really helps to limit the times you may get stuck and helps to keep the momentum moving in the right direction.
Schedule: I would say that, after Step #1 - Timing, this is the next step that derails many people. You decide that you are going all in on cleaning up your family's diet and going to start cooking mostly organic and mostly vegan meals for dinner on a regular basis. Good on you! This could have an awesome impact on your family's health now and for years to come. Have you factored in the amount of time it is going to take to change over the supplies/ingredients in your kitchen? Have you thought about the fact that someone in the fam will need to make more regular trips to the grocery store for fresh produce and ingredients? Or - were you just factoring in the new amount of time it is going to take to cook? You might need to start with 3 days a week - or ask for help/delegate duties - to help you come out ok with the time commitment. It is certainly ok to squeeze your free time in the beginning of a new goal - but unless you are willing to cut a lot from your schedule or the time vacuum simmers down - you may not be able to maintain it. Time management and keeping your free time abundant are mandatory!
Support System: This is a tough one for sure. It is REALLY hard to change both yourself and your support system at the same time. Maybe you are really ready to cut your alcohol consumption in half - but your wife's best part of her day is the two glasses of wine you have together each evening. You may have to search out new people to support you - or keep the 'big version' of your goal on the DL and tell your wife a white-lie about you doing "a cleanse" for a couple weeks to feel better. Maybe - if you get through the two weeks with flying colors and want to stick with your goal - you can convince your wife to try a second "cleanse" with you! A good reminder is that we can only change ourselves and we all grow at different times.
Surrender: One of the best lessons that I have learned in the last ten years is that every goal requires some degree of surrender. Ready for a new house? Start looking on Zillow, talk with a realtor, get your finances in order, intend, wish, pray...and then release it to the universe. Remember - goals are often about the process and not the end results - because it is all about growth. Doesn't mean you stop believing and putting that great energy out there - just means you aren't strangling your goal to death with worry and fear. Keep the energy positive!
I hope you read this and read it again and find sparks of ways to increase your momentum. I believe that you deserve to reach those goals and have a great life! Blessings!❤️
