How Baby Steps Can Help You Crush Your Goals

Got a Goal? Does it seem miles away? Are you agonizing over the time it is taking to reach it?


Solution = Baby Steps👶👟👟


How‘d you get here?🤔


Often, when we set a goal for ourselves - we have hit a point of reckoning. We are fed up. We are inspired. We just gobbled up a handful of motivational vitamins.

It’s Go Time!


You can see the light at the tunnel. This is going to be easy. You’re almost shocked with yourself that you didn’t do this months ago!


The first two days are AMAZING! You feel like a rockstar! You can do this! Nothing is stopping you now!


Then...you...crash...


Whoa! What went wrong? What happened?


Well...probably...life.


You have routines, habits, humans, and all kinds of other distracting elements...that you can ignore...for about two days...and then they come rushing back in...like a wild fire!🔥


Really - it is all just a test. What are you willing to change? Where can you make space? What are you willing to clear from your calendar?...


...And MOST IMPORTANTLY...What is no longer serving your highest purpose?


Now comes the REAL reckoning.


This is where you need to choose to make some space, take some time, get centered...and do a personal inventory. Personal Inventories can be a bit tedious and painful...but...let's face it...most growth is initially.


If you care about your new goal enough, you will most certainly survive this time of personal inventory. And it will feel at least as good as a good closet clean out.


Now comes the next key to growth. Brainstorm some steps.


You are not going to go from 180lbs to 130lbs, or clustered to organized, or in debt to carrying a pile of Benjamins - while you sleep. Everything in life is a process.


How can you start?

  • Set 20min aside each day to work on your goal?

  • Make a list?

  • Call a friend for help?

  • Set a reminder in your phone?

  • Start a gratitude journal?

This planning phase is very crucial...as it sets the wheels in motion. It changes your energy, propels the Law of Attraction, and lines up some steps.


Now...you are ready to start Day 3 of your goal...with a plan.


But - here is the important part: You will probably have to keep hitting the brainstorm lab often. It is highly likely that your first list of to-dos will hit some bumps or wind down some very crazy rabbit-holes. That is called GROWTH! If growth and goals were easy - everyone would do them!


It is always ok to do more brainstorming, to ask for more help, to make your steps...even smaller baby steps...or to just take a breather and rest.


The key to reaching goals is to celebrate the process and feel the feelings of accomplishment with each tiny step that you crush along the way. It is also important to be present in those steps that crash or "fail" - as it is crucial to understand that failure is one of the purest forms of growth - as it is helping us to go back to the drawing board and to better listen to our gut - as to what the correct answer is for us as we move forward. Maybe that original goal isn't even what you want anymore...you want something that aligns with your soul even better!


If we weren't taking Baby Steps...we would miss these great opportunities for growth, gratitude, failure, and celebration. And that...is where the real power lies.
